Local Number Portability

What is local number portability?
Local number portability (LNB) is a command from the Federal Communications Commissions (FCC) which, from November 24, 2003, allows consumers to keep their phone number when switching wireless carriers or when switching from a landline to a wireless phone.
At Centennial we welcome you and we are willing to offer the most competitive plans in the market with the best service.

How do I benefit by bringing my number to Centennial?

If you want to switch to Centennial:
•You will not have to go to your actual service provider; we will complete the process for you.
•You can port your personal wireless number, residential number or business number to Centennial.
•Phone calls from mobile to mobile or landline numbers will be cheaper.
•You will not lose contact with family, friends, business partners or suppliers, since you will keep the same telephone number.
•No more changes in official documents or business cards.
•We meet your needs by offering the most competitive plans in the market.
•We offer a variety of third generation phones with voice and data applications.

How do I switch my telephone number to Centennial?

Do not cancel your previous account.  Centennial will cancel your account once your telephone number is approved for portability.  Remember that you are still responsible for any balance left in your previous account with the other carrier.
Visit one of our stores or kiosks throughout the Island.

Bring your bill or any other information as it is in order to accelerate the process.
To be able to switch to Centennial, your account with the other carrier must be registered under your name.

Once the number portability is approved, one of our expert sales representatives will advise about the Centennial plan and rate that meet your needs.

What can prevent my request to port my number to Centennial?
You will not be able to port your number to Centennial if:
• The account with the other carrier is terminated, inactive or under investigation when requesting to port.
• Your personal information is different from the data collected from the other carrier.
•The number you are bringing to Centennial is outside Puerto Rico's geographical zone, e.g. numbers with area codes other than 787 or 939.

Can I transfer my home or business landline to Centennial's cell phone service?
Yes. Remember that transferring a residential or business landline to a cell phone line will take approximately 4 days.

Can I keep my telephone equipment when porting my number to Centennial?
Cell phones or landline telephones are preprogrammed and don’t all use the same technology in their networks, so your old phone may not work on Centennial's network.  This is why, though you will be able to port your number, you will have to buy a new phone when you switch to Centennial.  We have a variety of styles that will meet your needs.

After the request for transfer and while the process is completed, will I be able to make phone calls or call 911?
Yes. Your telephone will allow phone calls to 911 or any other number however, you will not be able to receive calls until the porting process is completed.  The telephone from your previous carrier will allow you to receive calls including those from 911.  That's why it's important for you to keep both telephones until the transfer process is completed.

If you need to call 911 you should inform the emergency officials about your location, the nature of the emergency and the phone number where they can contact you.

How long those it take to port a number?
•Wireless-to-wireless transfers should take from two-and-a-half hours to 48 hours.
•For a residential or business landline it could take up to 4 days.

Remember that you'll continue to receive service from your previous carrier and it's your responsibility to cover any charges that may apply during the porting process.
